Autumn Days @ Mt Macedon Honour Avenue

Photo | The magical and ever enchanting Honour Avenue in Autumn.

After a hiatus from blogging, I am finally back! These last 2 months have been crazy busy with report after report, every day, non-stop. Well, I am happy to say,  those crazy days are (temporarily) over, and now, I could do with some R&R, not to mention, catch up on some long over due blog entries.

First up, I thought I would do a post about the beautiful Honour Avenue in Macedon. The 1km avenue is planted with a line of oak trees to commemorate all the men and women who enlisted for service during WWI & WWII.

During the Autumn of each year, the oak trees turn the avenue into a beautiful landscape of reds, oranges and yellows. It is the perfect place to be if you are after some decent autumn landscape photos. In saying that, lots (and I mean LOTS) of people visit the avenue during the autumn season so taking that perfect autumn landscape photo comes with the price of being very patient  and waiting for ages for the scene to clear. Otherwise, the eraser tool in Photoshop will become your best friend as you edit the people, road signs, and cars out of your photo.

Photo | Believe me, this picture took A LOT of post-editing effort to erase out the crowds of people.

Although many people head to Honour Avenue, I can guarantee if you drive around the Macedon Ranges, you will find plenty of streets lined with beautiful autumn trees that are just as stunning as the oaks at Honour Avenue.  As evidence, here are some photos I took from surrounding streets near Honour Avenue. There was no one on these streets so taking the photo was made that much easier. IMG_9820aIMG_9564IMG_9639IMG_9720IMG_9790
