Chocolate Heaven @Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

A place that I love visiting and never get sick of is the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery and it is as appetizing as the name suggests it to be.

Photo: Welcome to the Yarra Valley Choclaterie & Ice Cremery

I have visited this chocolate farm at least 5 times and you know what, I would be happy to visit again and again! It is 1 hour from the CBD and believe me, the drive to the farm is worth it.   You see rolling hills and green open land in 360 views.

I love driving up to the country side. There’s always something very scenic and peaceful about the country that appeals to me.  Maybe it’s because I am a lover of all things nature. I think it is also due to the fact that I love reading medieval fantasy novels. There’s always something about the country that reminds me of medieval times:  peaceful villages, lavish valleys, mountain ranges, dirt roads, blue skies. Whoospy, I diverge, yet again : p

Photo: This is the “backyard” of the Chocolate Farm – absolutely stunning views!
Photo: This is the “front yard” of the chocolate farm. Every time I visit I am fascinated by that hill in the far distance (right)
Photo: Same view as the above photo but taken on a completely different day. The weather makes a huge differ to the “feel” of the photo, right?

There are many roads that lead to the chocolate factory but the one I like is Eltham Road which takes you past the Kangaroo Ground Memorial Tower, Christmas Hills and the Sugarloaf Reservoir. All these places will be covered in future posts so don’t you worry !

So what do you do at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery?

Why you eat of course (but as a photographer, eating always comes second to taking photos!)

As soon as you walk through the main door, you are surrounded by chocolate everywhere! It is kinda like being in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

There’s also a cafe near the back and I can vouch their desserts are spot on. They sell a range of sweets including home-made ice-cream but if you are not so much a sweet-tooth, don’t fret because they have a selection of savory meals too like Country style breakfasts, salads, pizza and baguettes. I had the pulled pork pizza and loved it.

Sweet treats @ the Yarra Valley Chocolate Farm Cafe:

I cannot say this happens every year, but during the final month of summer (Feb) the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie has what they call their “Ice-Cream Festival” where during this time they release 144 flavors of ice-cream over 12 days. It happened in 2015, wonder if it will happen again in 2016?

  1. Yarra Valley Chocolate Farm is about 1 hours drive from the CBD
  2. Experience the beautiful Yarra valley and it’s hilly landscapes
  3.  Indulge in chocolates, sweet treats, and some savory snacks at the cafe.
  4. Sit outside on the veranda and sip your coffee whilst taking in the beautiful landscapes (hence recommend going in spring or summer rather than during  winter as it can be freezing sitting outside!)
  5. Spam away with landscape and food photography because you cannot stop once you start 😀
  6.  Enjoyment level 9/10
